How did Evan propose? Evan proposed the Friday before my birthday. He told me that we were going for drinks before dinner- we have an ongoing joke that since we were friends before we dated we had never gone for drinks and I always brought it up- and so I needed to be ready around 8 for our 9:30 reservation. I was in our bedroom getting ready and told him I just needed to put my jewelry on then I would be ready. Evan asked if I wanted my birthday present then and of course I said yes! He came into our bedroom holding a shopping bag from this jewelry store I love. I opened the bag and there was a necklace box- I had strongly hinted that I wanted a pendant for my birthday. I opened the box and looked at the bottom to see what stone he ended up with and then saw that in the upper left hand corner was a diamond ring. I turned to look at Evan and there he was down on one knee! He told me to get ready early so we would have time to call everyone and check into a hotel before dinner!
Standout Memory of the night: Our first dance- neither one of us are exactly super coordinated but we went to a lot of dance lessons and they paid off! It was so great having everyone we love on the dance floor cheering us on during our first dance as husband and wife.
Honeymoon Location: We went on a mini moon right after the wedding to Anguilla and then went to Thailand and Dubai over Christmas. In Thailand we stopped in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Krabi.
One piece of advice that you could give to other couples: Make sure you take a moment to step back at some point in the night and look around and take everything in. Everyone is there to celebrate you and it’s such an overwhelming and awesome feeling! The night flies by so make sure you appreciate and enjoy every moment.
