How did Matt propose? It was the weekend of my birthday and Matt had set up a brunch for us at Sarabeths. He had his “phone call” to let us know the wait was too long and he suggested we go to La Vela. Side note: La Vela was where we had our 1st Valentines Dinner when Matt first moved into the city. It became our go to restaurant for every celebration and holiday. Once we walked in I noticed it was empty and slowly started to notice the restaurant was filled with flowers, candles & pictures of us from throughout the years. His brother was in the back capturing the moments for us (which was fantastic because I couldn’t remember much from all the excitement!) Matt had rented the restaurant out so we had that moment to ourselves. He got on one knee, started off with the line “ever since I saw you in middle school with bangs…” and the rest was history. After that Matt had all our family waiting to celebrate!
Standout Memory of the night: Family & Friends always told us to stand back at some point in the night and take it all in. This was our favorite memory, between toasts Matt and I had a moment to stand back look around the room and really appreciate all of the people who were there for us that day to celebrate such an exciting time in our lives. The room was truly filled with love for us and it is something we will always look back on with a smile.
Honeymoon Location: We went to Greece and visited Mykonos, Santorini & Athens. It was the perfect amount of relaxation with the right amount of fun exploring of the beautiful scenery!
One piece of advice that you could give to other couples: To remember what it is all about- getting to marry the person you love surrounded by close family & friends!
