How did Bryan propose? We were spending a long weekend in Maine, which is where we met. After a fun day in the sun, we were getting ready for dinner. Bryan said he had a present for me and handed me a big box. It not being my birthday or our anniversary, I was quite confused. I excitedly opened it and pulled out a beautiful dress. When I asked what the occasion was he said, “I want you to wear this tonight so that you look absolutely beautiful on a night you’ll never forget.” He then got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his back pocket. I, of course, said yes! A limousine showed up about an hour later and took us to a really fun, celebratory night that Bryan had planned. It was perfect!
Standout Memory of the night: We have quite a few stand out memories from our wedding (we couldn’t pick just one)! Seeing each other for the first time; dancing with street performers in front of The Plaza as a large crowd of spectators cheered us on; me walking down the aisle; Bryan carrying me into the ballroom as we were introduced for the first time as a married couple; our first dance; all of the personal, heartfelt speeches; and a bridesmaid and a groomsman singing on stage with the band!
Honeymoon Location: We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. We went to the islands of Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. It was incredible!
One piece of advice that you could give to other couples: Separate bathrooms, if possible! Being able to stay out of each other’s way during the dash to get ready in the morning is invaluable!
Wedding Dress: My dress was designed by Monique Lhuillier. I bought it at Mark Ingram Atelier.
Groom’s Tux: Bryan’s tux was Calvin Klein. He bought it at Men’s Wearhouse.
Bridesmaids’ Gift and Groomsmen’ Gift: I gave my bridesmaids the jewelry they wore on our wedding day and a few small, fun gifts. Bryan gave his groomsmen divot replacers engraved with their initials (they all play golf) and personalized, funny t-shirts.
Something borrowed and something blue: My dad was my soccer coach growing up and our team colors were blue and white. He found my old, blue soccer bag and cut my number out of it in the shape of a heart. The seamstress at Mark Ingram then sewed that blue heart into the tool underneath my dress. My “something borrowed” was not that exciting–I borrowed a bracelet from the designer who made my ring–but my “something old” was very special. I wore a pair of diamond earrings that my grandmother had given to me for Christmas the year before, which her late husband had given to her for Valentine’s Day in the 1950’s.
Testimonial: Fred Marcus Photography is the best in the business! There is no question that Brian Marcus and his team are absolutely outstanding photographers: their reputation speaks for itself. But what makes Brian extra special, truly exceptional, and just plain better than the rest is his unique style and personality. Brian made the formal picture process–which is inevitably long (at least an hour) and stressful (did my dress get dirty?)–so much fun! Bryan and I remember laughing hysterically the entire time; especially when we stopped traffic on Central Park South to take a picture in the middle of the street with our wedding party! Everyone was completely carefree and enjoying each moment because Brian made everything so easy and natural. That feeling of genuine happiness lasted throughout the evening, during which Brian and his team captured every moment that Bryan and I would have wanted frozen in time in the most beautiful way imaginable. If you want the absolute best, hire Fred Marcus Photography!
